The True Bread
“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Matthew 6:11 NKJV
The opening verse is a major part of the model prayer taught us by Jesus. The teachings of Jesus were done in different ways; some as parables which He’ll give translations to His disciples alone, some had its meaning right there in the text while some others you’ll have to defer to other verses of scripture .
In this verse it behoves me to say going by Hermeneutics (Bible interpretation) that it is safe for us to anchor on another verse or interplay with the word “bread“;
“Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”” Matthew 4:3-4 NKJV
When you look closely at the response of Jesus, you’ll find that He didn’t dispute bread in the context the tempter put it but He put above that kind of bread that feeds the body/mind, flesh as a whole but not the spirit which is the very essence of Man. We live in a world system where the tempter is supposedly the ruler and has the primary duty of keeping everyone and everything subject to his rule and coordinates of his realm. So he constantly keeps your gaze on his kind of bread which can translate to every form of materialism that feeds the flesh and every means to get it such as your job, business, those we depend on, etc…
Jesus is admonishing that we rise above that which makes for food for the body to that which is food for the spirit which is LIFE itself hence He is saying to us loudly today to ask The Father for His Word. This word that makes for Life eternal, that keeps us whole… “He sent His word and healed them, And rescued them from their destruction.” Psalms 107:20 AMP.
ASK The Lord for your matching word today and refuse to lean heavily on things that seek to satisfy the flesh and not The spirit that translates to Life.
PRAYER FOCUS; “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” Psalms 119:105 AMP.
I refuse to go a day without the fellowship of THE WORD.
